GUIDE: Hello everyone, and welcome to the Riverside Park Summer Festival. My name's Tom, and I'm one of the event coordinators. Before you head off to enjoy yourselves, let me run through what's on and where to find it.
The festival is open from ten in the morning until nine in the evening, though please note that the children's activities finish earlier, at five o'clock. Entry is free, but some of the activities ask for a small donation to local charities.
Let me tell you about the main areas. As you come through the main gate, the food court is directly ahead of you, on the central lawn — that's where you'll find stalls selling everything from wood-fired pizza to vegan curry. To your left, near the old oak tree, is the craft market, where local makers sell handmade jewellery, pottery, and prints. Don't miss the live music stage, which is over on the right, by the river itself; the headline act, a jazz quartet, comes on at seven.
For families, the children's zone is at the far end of the park, beyond the food court. There's face painting, a small petting farm, and storytelling sessions on the hour. If you'd like to learn something new, the workshop tent — just behind the craft market — runs free sessions all day: bread-making at eleven, watercolour painting at one, and beekeeping at three.
A few practical points. Toilets are located beside the main gate and also near the music stage. We're a cashless event this year, so please bring a card or phone for payments. Finally, the car park does fill up quickly, so if you can, we'd encourage you to come by bicycle — there's free, secure cycle parking right next to the entrance. Now, please go and enjoy the festival!
