English Hub
A daily practice room for real English and the exams that measure it — IELTS, TOEFL and the rest. Built to be fast, quiet, and yours.
English Hub is a study app, not a social network. Everything you do — reviews, scores, streaks — is kept on your own device first, and the whole site is static, so it loads instantly and works offline once visited. Flashcards are scheduled with FSRS spaced repetition, the same family of algorithms serious learners trust, so you review each item at the moment it’s about to slip. Sign in with Google only if you want your deck to travel between your phone and laptop.
Four skills, drilled
Listening tests, reading passages, writing tasks and speaking topics — modelled on the real exam, with quizzes that mark themselves.
Words & grammar
Themed vocabulary lists with audio and example sentences, plus grammar explained level by level — the raw material every band score is built on.
Flashcards that remember for you
Add any word or selected phrase to a deck scheduled by FSRS spaced repetition, so each card returns the day before you’d forget it.
Hear every word
Text-to-speech reads words, model answers and passages aloud using your browser’s own voices — nothing is uploaded.
Translate in place
Check a meaning without leaving the page. Inline translation runs on-device through your browser, when it supports it.
An AI teacher, on your terms
Bring your own Google Gemini key for instant word and grammar explanations and a per-topic chat. Your key lives on your device and is never sent to us.
Privacy policy
The short version: your studying stays on your device unless you ask it to sync, and we don’t track you. The longer version follows.
- Local-first by default
- Your flashcards and study progress are stored in your browser’s IndexedDB, on the device you’re using. The site is fully static — there is no application server quietly logging what you study.
- What syncs, and only when you sign in
- If you sign in with Google, your flashcards and study progress sync to our database (Supabase) so they follow you between devices, using a simple last-write-wins merge. Signed out, nothing leaves your device.
- What never leaves your device
- Your detailed review history, your AI Teacher API key, your AI chat conversations, and your study settings (exam date, target score, daily goal) are stored locally only. They are never uploaded or synced.
- Accounts
- Signing in uses Google OAuth through Supabase, entirely in your browser. We receive your email address and an account id to label your synced rows; your session is kept in your browser’s local storage. That’s it — no profile building.
- The AI Teacher talks straight to Google
- When you use the AI Teacher, the selected text, the lesson’s instructions and your chat turns go directly from your browser to Google’s Gemini API using the key you provided — there is no backend in between, and your account is not attached. You can revoke the key in Google Cloud at any time.
- Hosting
- The site is served as static files by Cloudflare Pages, which keeps standard request logs like any web host. We add no analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising and no third-party trackers.
- Staying in control
- Delete individual flashcards whenever you like — a deletion is recorded and removed from any synced copy. Sign out to stop syncing, and clear this site’s browser storage to erase all local data from the device.
